Planning your wedding involves countless moving parts, the amount of emails you will be sending! Knowing when to book your bridal makeup can make the entire experience feel calmer and more enjoyable.
As a Perth bridal makeup artist, I'm often asked about the ideal timing - from securing your artist to preparing your skin in the lead-up to the day.
This guide is designed to give Perth brides a clear, stress-free timeline from someone with over 9 years of bridal experience!

9-12 Months Before the Wedding: Book Your Bridal Makeup Artist
If you're getting married during peak wedding season in Perth (March to May, August to November), it's best to secure your bridal makeup artist as early as possible.
Booking early:
Ensures availability for your date
Allows time to plan your wedding morning timeline
Gives you peace of mind knowing one key detail is locked in
When choosing your artist, look for someone whose style aligns with your vision and who understands Perth venues, weather, and wedding-day logistics. 3-6 Months Before: Time for Your Bridal Trial!
I wouldn't suggest a trial any earlier than this as most of your weddings details are finalised during these 6 months. Keeping your wedding details and vibes in mind really help with knowing what makeup and hair you are wanting! Bridal makeup and hair trial is essential as this is the time where we refine your look and discuss your preferences.
During your trial, we cover:
Skin preparation and skincare routine
Makeup style and level of glam
Longevity and comfort
How everything will tie into your wedding day
Many Perth brides choose to schedule their trial close to an engagement shoot or event so they can see the makeup in different lighting and settings. If you’re still refining your vision, How to Choose Your Wedding Day Makeup is a helpful guide to understanding what will work best for you.
6-8 Weeks Before: Skin Preparation & Final Touches
This is the time to fully focus on skin preparation, consistency is key!
I recommend:
Keeping your skincare routine simple and hydrating (face masks often!)
Avoid trying new treatments or products close to the wedding
Booking your brow shaping/waxing appointment
1-2 Weeks Before: Confirm Your Wedding Morning Details
This is where I step in to make sure everything runs smoothly on the morning of your wedding!
Around one week prior the wedding, I'll send through a final confirmation email that outlines all the important details. This includes:
Wedding morning location, including parking details and arrival logistics
Confirmation of the number of services booked
A clear schedule of services, particularly for larger bridal parties, so everyone knows exactly when to arrive and we finish on time
The space required for hair and makeup prep, ensuring I can work safely, comfortably and efficiently
Preparation guidelines for you and your bridal party, including how to arrive with clean skin and hair so we can achieve the best possible results.
The Night Before: Keep it Simple
The night before your wedding is about rest and preparation.
I recommend:
Cleansing and moisturising your skin
Washing and double sha
mpooing your hair, blowdry it straight so its ready for hair styling the next day
Avoid late nights where possible (although I understand the nerves!)
A good night's rest will help for such a big day ahead!

Wedding Morning: Relax & Enjoy the Experience
On the morning of your wedding, everything should feel intentional and calm. My role is not only to create your makeup look, but also to bring a steady, reassuring presence to your day. Enjoy being pampered!
